Small red cloth with gild imprint volume of Monsieur Beaucaire by Booth Tarkington published by Grosset & Dunlap in 1900. Illustrations are by C. B. Williams and book decorations are by Chas. Edw. Hooper. If my research is correct, Doubleday was the original publisher in 1899. This is probably the first Grosset & Dunlap edition. It is 128 pages. Some of the illustration plates are loose but all are accounted for.
Condition is good for a book of this age. Cover has what looks like color loss from an attempted cleaning, edges are worn but not worn through. Cover has not come loose. Illustrations are the only loose pages. The book is clean and does not have any writing in it. From non-smoking home. No dust jacket. This is a very rare book.
