Lisa was one of the early paintings Sara Moon did for Red Baron Publishing in 1976. This publisher/artist relationship did not last long and Sara Moon moved into obscurity until 1980 when he began painting for Verkerke in the Netherlands.
Red Baron commissioned another artist, Christian, to paint under the name of Sara Moon and between 1980 and 82 two artists were producing as Sara Moon. The signatures are markedly different however.
This print is 8.5 x 10.5 inches framed. The frame is solid wood, probably walnut with gold detail.
Many of the early Sara Moon original paintings are believed to have been destroyed in a fire at Red Baron in 1983. At least they have not shown up in galleries. It is believed that the artist still owns many of the originals.
Sara Moon is a pseudonym for Bijan Djamalszadeh, Persian by birth but long a resident of Germany.
There was an insatiable desire for Sara Moon prints when they came out and they are highly collectible today. Many of the prints have been translated into needlepoint canvases.
