A fascinating early elementary school book that teaches the ABCs and penmanship in the Russian and Ukraine languages. Unlike American Dick and Jane playing with Spot and watching each other run, this book introduces the students to zoology, worker state ideology, participation and good citizenship, a little history and a little geography. At the end are stories about Lenin and others, some fairy tales (I recognize Three Little Pigs), and the last page shows a decorated Christmas tree and a masquerade party.
Educators with a history bent will be intrigued by this book and students will be equally captivated as they learn about similarities and differences in two cultures. Truly a great addition to a school library or a teacher's private collection.
The book is 96 pages, published in 1965 in Kharkov, Ukraine and is lavishly illustrated in color. The condition is intact and clean. The printed cardboard cover has wear to the edges but is firmly affixed to the contents.
