Tigers Are Better-Looking is a collection of short stories, first published in 1939 and includes a selection from Jean Rhys's 1927 volume of Paris stories, The Left Bank, of which Ford Madox Ford wrote in the Preface: 'One likes, in short to be connected with something good, and Miss Rhys's work seems to me to be very good, so vivid, so extraordinarily distinguished by the rendering of passion, and so true, that I wish to be connected with it.'
The 9 stories from The Left Bank were first published by Jonathan Cape in 1927. The 8 stories under the heading Tigers are Better-Looking were never published in book form before 1968. Penguin published the collection in 1972. This is a 1977 reprint. The book has 220 pages and is in fine condition other than the browning typical of age. From a non-smoking home.
I have other Rhys books listed and will gladly combine items to save on shipping.
