After Leavingt Mr. Mackenzie was first published in 1930. This is the first soft cover printing from Vintage Books in March 1974. The book is in near fine once read condition from non-smoking home. Browning typical of age but otherwise a clean tight copy. 191 pages.
From the back cover:
This novel, Marge Piercy has written, "is about the sinking of a woman who didn't want to settle for things, who wanted to live a little, and who found the only adventures open to her repetitive affairs with a series of men. For a woman reading it, it is as stark, as ominous as a skeleton."
Originally published in 1930, almost half a century before its time, After Leaving Mr. Mackenzie stands today as a powerful, subtle and unforgettable statement of a woman's dilemma, a book Rebecca West has called "terrible and superb."
