This is a pocket edition is a reprint of a collection of poems originally published in 1913. This edition is not dated. It is a collection of poems by Francis Thompson with a lengthy introduction by Paul Beard. The first poem is The Hound of Heaven which until I found this book was my only knowledge of Thompson. It is pocket book size bound in navy blue leatherette with gold imprint. It is 319 pages.
The publisher is Thomas Nelson & Sons Ltd. It was printed in Great Britain. It is part of the Nelson classics series. The book is undated but judging by the book I would guess it was printed in the 1930s. Condition is very good. The book is clean and tight. The book opens like it has been read but has no dog earred pages or marks. The binding is excellent.
Francis Thompson was a Victorian mystic, drug addict, and poet who probably suffered from depression all his life. He died of consumption in 1907 at the age of forty seven.
