Margaret Kennedy was a prolific English novelist whose work spanned 44 years from 1922 to 1966. Lucy Carmichael, the protagonist of the novel of the same name was a bright young thing from a good, if eccentric London family. As the book opens she is being jilted at the altar. She then goes to teach in a small village in Lincolnshire where she has another shot at love.
The book is hard cover, no dust jacket and I believe it is a book club edition although it has no identifier other than copyright 1951 which is the year it was published. Publisher is Rinehart and Company, New York. The book is 344 pages. It is in very good, tight condition. Very light shelf wear on edges of cloth covered boards. The pages are unmarked, no dog ears. Edna/51 is written on the front fly page very neatly in ink. The cloth on the back cover has what looks like a coffee colored stain in the upper left corner. It is coffee on taupe linen.
About shipping for books:
I am editing all book listings to show shipping via Media Mail or first class for destinations within the US only. Shipping to Canada will be Canada to Canada airmail. Since I live in Canada shipping from the US is not a daily occurrence and it may be up to 2 weeks before I can ship.. Then again it may be next day. It all depends on when I was last there. Canadian orders are 1-3 days per my normal delivery. If you want faster shipping please email me before purchase and I will edit the listing for you.
