There was a crooked man...he bought a crooked cat...and they all lived together in a little crooked house.
Perhaps this nursery rhyme was what Martin Machacek had in mind when he began painting crooked houses. He is architecturally trained which shows in his work, worked for several years for architects before devoting himself to his painting.
He was born in Prague in the Czech Republic where the varying styles of architecture have influenced his vision. He now lives in Victoria Canada and most of his paintings are of Canadian houses, shops and streets.
Did he stop off in Barcelona Spain on his way to Canada and get further inspiration from the architecture of Antonio Gaudi? No matter the subject Machacek instills a whimsey (he calls it energy) into his work that makes you feel like talking to it. Don't you see that this house is bowing slightly to welcome you? Extend your hand and it will walk down the block with you.
House 2527 is printed on heavy semi-gloss paper. The poster is 12 x 16 inches and according to Machacek will fit a standard 12 x 16 frame. It is packaged in a heavy cello envelope with a cardboard support as it came from the publisher. It will be shipped flat with extra stiffening.
If you live in the USA, this can be shipped for less if you can wait till the next time I cross the border. Perhaps a week to 10 days. Email for time constraits before purchase.
