This work is a novel that is more like a never ending nightmare beginning when a free lance undercover journalist heads to a small town in Ontario to do a story on a reclusive healer he's heard of. His cover is a widower looking for a country retreat far from civilization. The one he finds would have had me running back to noisy, nasty Toronto faster than I could turn the key in the lock, but he attempts to settle in.
Hollingshead goes into great detail as he describes the ensuing trauma from a flash flood, a marauding bear, the runaway healer, and her deranged realtor father loose in the woods with a shotgun. It's as though you're experiencing it all in real time. 309 pages.
