This is a very informative book and presented in a way that will intrigue young children. It is a picture encyclopedia of all sorts of ships and boats. It runs the gamut from aircraft carriers to row boats. It explains what each boat is used for, how they work and interesting facts about them. The drawings are labeled and easy for young sea-crazed children to follow. Heaps of vocabulary. It has a table of contents in the front and an index at the back.
I categorized this as 4-8 years but found quite a lot of information here that I didn't know. Great book for teachers of early K-3.
The book was written by Sally Hewitt and Nicola Wright and illustrated by Rachael O'Neill. It was published by Zigzag Publishing Ltd. in Canada in 1993. This is a first edition in mint condition. It doesn't look like it was ever touched by a child.
