This oversized hardcover with dust jacket book is a first edition published in London by Bloomsbury in 1989. Author is Charles Messenger. It is a WWII atlas and the format includes over 200 maps showing troop movement for each battle and lucid easy to understand descriptions of the battles. It includes all European and Asian campaigns. It proceeds day by day like a log or diary. 255 pages.
It actually begins with the Treaty of Versailles in 1918 and ends with the Japanese surrender in August 1945. Additionally there are pages on the cost of the war, war crimes trials, and post war problems. There is also a suggested reading list and a detailed index and table of contents.
Charles Messenger had an English military education and served in the British Navy. He has written several highly regarded books on WWII.
The book is in excellent condition although it has an R inside the front cover. That may mean remaindered however I paid full cover price for the book at the time it was published.
The dust jacket has two tears on the top front. I taped one ages ago. Otherwise it is in very good condition.
